March 21, 2011

SNM Capitol Hill Day 2011

SNM's Capitol Hill Day will provide an excellent opportunity for SNM members to educate their elected officials about such issues as: imaging reimbursement; the need for a domestic supply of medical isotopes; radiation dose and patient safety; funding for nuclear medicine research; and the "Consistency, Accuracy, Responsibility, and Excellence in Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy" legislation (the "CARE Act").

What: Participants in SNM's Capitol Hill Day will visit Capitol Hill to discuss timely policy issues relevant to the practice of nuclear medicine
When: Monday, May 2, 2011
Where: Hyatt Regency Washington on Capitol Hill, 400 New Jersey Avenue, NW, Washington, DC

For those who are going to Capitol Hill for the first time or if you would like a refresher course, SNM staff will be available from 3:00 - 4:00pm on Sunday, May 1st to provide training and answer questions.  Additionally, there will be an orientation to discuss the priority issues from 4:30-6:30pm.  Both sessions will be held at the hotel (more specific details will follow) with Hill visits beginning Monday morning. SNM will make your Hill appointments for you.

If you are interested in participating, please send an email with the following information to HPRA@snm.org, no later than Wednesday, March 30, 2011: full name, complete home and work mailing addresses (with zip codes), your estimated arrival and departure times, and whether or not you have a personal relationship with your Representative and/or Senators.

So that we can make the most of your day on the Hill, please try to schedule your return flight as late in the day as possible on Monday, May 2nd.

Please note that if you choose to participate in SNM's Capitol Hill Day, you will be responsible for all of your expenses.

Your voice is important to our success, we hope that you can join us!
