Update on Possible Xenon-133 Shortage

On April 19, 2012, Lantheus issued a customer letter to provide an update on the previous communication regarding the possible supply shortage of Xenon-133. After detailed discussions with suppliers, Lanthius expects to receive supply for one more week. The supply shortage of Xenon-133 is estimated to be from May 16 to May 29 and is anticipated to be restored to normal supply by May 30.

Xenon-133 is a critically important diagnostic tool that is instrumental in the timely and accurate diagnosis of a number of pulmonary conditions, including pulmonary embolism, a condition that is potentially fatal for patients. The use of Xenon-133 is highly used by clinicians during emergency procedures in order to prevent potentially fatal conditions, including those involving problems with cerebral blood flow.
