On May 8, 2012, Health and Human Services (HHS) announced the first group of organizations that will receive the Health Care Innovation awards. These awards were created by the Affordable Care Act and will go toward 26 innovative projects selected that will deliver high quality care, save money and enhance the workforce in health care. In the next three years, the preliminary awardees expect to reduce health spending by $254 million.
