FDA User Fee Reauthorization Bill Clears Senate

June 27, 2012

On Tuesday, June 26, 2012, the Senate passed a compromise five-year measure to reauthorize FDA drug and medical-device user fees for five years and to create two new user fee programs, one for generic drugs and the other for generic biologic drugs.

The Senate voted 92-4 to pass the bill which is a negotiated compromise between similar measures that separately passed in the House and Senate earlier this month. This has readied the bill for President Obama’s signature.
