Florbetapir PET detects rising beta amyloid in healthy adults

Researchers have found that PET with the radiotracer florbetapir detects high levels of beta amyloid in the cortical regions of brains of cognitively normal adults -- levels that were linked to a higher risk of Alzheimer's disease and decreasing mental performance, according to a study published online February 1 in Neurology.
