SPECT Scan Possible in Very Obese

September 10, 2012

An advanced cardiac SPECT scanner delivered acceptable image quality in super-obese patients, researchers found.

A retrospective review of 72 sequential super-obese patients (body mass index greater than 50 kg/m2) found that resting image quality was good or excellent in 35 patients, satisfactory in 24, poor in three, and uninterpretable in none, according to Anthony DeCicco, MD, of Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia, and colleagues.
