SPECT Perfusion Imaging Works Fine in Women

September 10, 2012

SPECT myocardial perfusion imaging (MPI) is as accurate among women as men, according to data from a meta-analysis presented here.

After reviewing 26 studies that included 2,258 patients, the mean sensitivity for SPECT MPI to detect coronary stenosis ≥50% in women was 85% and the mean specificity was 79%, according to Aline Iskandar, MD, of the University of Connecticut Health Center in Farmington and colleagues.
