PET Foretells NSCLC Tx Survival

October 9, 2012

Changes in cancer metabolism early in the course of therapy for non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) predict outcomes, researchers found.

A response by radiolabeled fluorodeoxyglucose (FDG) PET imaging after 2 weeks of radiotherapy was linked to substantially better odds of survival to 2 years in a study by Wouter van Elmpt, PhD, of the Maastricht University Medical Centre in Maastricht, the Netherlands, and colleagues.
