Imaging research at University Hospitals may help diagnose Alzheimer's disease

May 29, 2013

Researchers are studying a new imaging technique at University Hospitals Case Medical Center that may help diagnose Alzheimer's disease by lighting up the protein plaques in the brain that are characteristic of the illness.

The research group, composed of imaging and brain specialists, is recruiting patients with suspected early-stage Alzheimer's to have a brain scan using a radioactive tracer called Amyvid.
